Grecotel participated for another year in the 35th Philoxenia International Tourism Fair at the Thessaloniki International Exhibition Center, November 8-10.  Specifically, Philoxenia's exhibitors totaled 382, 100 top Tour Operators from 37 countries participated (1/3 of Hosted Buyers are MICE and 2/3 Tour Operators and Travel Agents), overseas team visits were at least 160 people from Turkey,  Northern Macedonia and Bulgaria while the scheduled visitor and exhibitor appointments counted up to 3,800, a five-year record for the exhibition.

This year's honored country was Poland (celebrating the 100 years of diplomatic relations between Greece and Poland) while the Honorable Municipality was Tripoli and the Honorable Region was Thessaly.

This year's event also featured all tourist destinations, as were the country's 13 Regions and many Municipalities as well as a large portion of the tourism business. Exhibitors included, inter alia, the Ministry of Tourism, GNTO, the Ministry of  Digital Governance along with tourism start-ups, hotels, construction, technology, furniture, construction, equipment and renovation businesses, targeting the tourism industry from all Regions of the country as well as the most important institutional bodies SETE, POX, XTE, HATTA and others.

Philoxenia also presented 35 tourist start-ups through two carriers: Digital Greece, a project of the Ministry of Digital Governance, and CapsuleT Travel & Hospitality Accelerator, the first Greek startup accelerator exclusively for tourism, an initiative of the Hellenic Hotel Chamber.

Among the many parallel events of Philoxenia was the International Conference on "Dark Tourism", which explored this year the role played by the "dark past" of a destination in the creation of attractive narratives and their tourist exploitation,
mainly locally, inviting remarkable speakers from Greece and abroad.
